The Coalition of Communities of Color (CCC) has partnered with the City of Portland in order to meaningfully engage Portland’s communities of color in the Portland Charter Review process. At least once every 10 years, Portland convenes 20 people from a range of backgrounds and experiences to serve on a Charter Commission. This Commission is tasked with hearing input from Portlanders on what kinds of changes to the structure of our city government are needed. Then, the Commission will draft amendments, incorporate community feedback, and ultimately refer proposed changes to Portland voters as ballot measures.
We are pleased to announce a Portland Charter Engagement Toolkit and a webpage full of resources so that you can learn about the Charter Review process and get involved in it.
Other action opportunities:
Attend one of the Charter Commission’s upcoming Community Listening Sessions on Saturday, November 13th from 12-2pm or Tuesday, November 16th from 6-8pm.
