The health, safety, and well being of our community members is our top priority at the Coalition of Communities of Color. We are all impacted by the public health emergency in our communities due to the COVID 19 virus, and acknowledge the impact is especially felt by communities of color, small business owners, elders, those experiencing houselessness/homelessness, and those with underlying conditions and their families. We also recognize the economic and social challenges that present themselves with the school closures ordered by Governor Brown, the cancellation and closure of events and businesses, and the limited access to nutrition and wrap-around services for students and families.
We continue to advocate for public health needs & economic supports like: paid sick leave, virus testing, and access to nutrition services through school closures, unemployment benefits, and small business loans. We have heard our community loud and clear —these are urgent needs, and the CCC will continue to coordinate with state and local level health officials and advocate for our most vulnerable community members.
Our thoughts are with those who have been diagnosed, those with underlying conditions, and elders in particular.
