Supporting our Ukrainian Community
We at the Coalition of Communities of Color, like so many around the world, have watched in sorrow as the war in Ukraine has taken place.
We decry the violence beset upon the Ukrainian people, and even more so because, as is the case in so many conflicts throughout history, this is a case of everyday people with a common history pitted against each other and made to suffer the dire consequences of war.
We are doubly saddened since so many of our CCC member organizations are populated by immigrants and refugees, and to witness yet again loved ones, children, parents, grandparents being attacked and forced from their homeland is both re-traumatizing to those who have experienced it and horrifying to us all.
We wish those directly affected by this tragedy a quick and safe resolution, and likewise to those in our own Slavic and Eastern European community that may be suffering or worried about their families, we wish you peace and send our support.
Our members at the IRCO Slavic and Eastern European Center, who have been members of CCC since our founding 20 years ago, have assembled a document full of resources for the Ukrainian community, frequently asked questions, and ways that folks who want to pitch in can support and help those who have been impacted by the war on Ukraine.
