Position Overview
The Coalition of Communities of Color (CCC) is hiring our first full-time Development Manager to grow and sustain our work for racial justice. As Development Manager, you will power CCC’s work through your strategic leadership and execution of development activities. You will grow our base of supporters, communicate the impact of our work, sustain relationships with partners and donors, secure grants that invest in our work, and build organizational data systems. Throughout this work, you will receive meaningful support and work in a deeply collaborative, cross-team environment. In this role, you will draw on your creativity, skills, and dedication to build the financial health of the organization so that we can continue to change systems across the state and build a vision for racial justice in Oregon.

Formed in 2001, the Coalition of Communities of Color is an alliance of culturally-specific community based organizations engaged in collective action for racial justice. Job Activities
Strategic Leadership - 20%
You will lead the CCC’s overall development strategies and functions to advance the organization’s mission and programs by.:
Planning and implementing an annual development strategy to support the organization’s overall financial health and donor engagement
Creating a narrative and organizational image that demonstrate the impact of CCC’s work
Ensuring CCC’s development strategies are aligned with the organization’s mission, vision and values
Tracking fundraising revenue and regularly evaluating development activities
Proactively researching and identifying new fundraising opportunities and strategies
Fund Development- 20%
By communicating the value of CCC’s work and envisioning future opportunities, you will move various audiences to action in support of our mission to advance racial justice by:
Communicating CCC’s accomplishments and key updates to partners, donors, foundations, and government and private sector partners
Supporting the Executive Director in individual and corporate donor fundraising
Researching individual donor prospects and new funding opportunities
Grant Management - 25%
You will build a strong foundation to support CCC’s core operations and programs by:
Applying for and managing general operating grants, including submission of grant proposals, reporting, and financials
Collaborating with staff to envision and develop projects and program concepts for grant proposals
Supporting grant application and management for CCC’s program staff
Maintaining relationships with foundation program officers
Managing invoicing and payments in coordination with administrative and program staff
Program Integration and Support - 15%
The Development Manager will work across the organization to build data systems that are essential to our community engagement and development work by:
Building and growing our Customer Relationship Management system to ensure targeted communications, engagement, and fundraising strategies
Maintaining contacts and targeting engagement of individual supporters, partner organizations, and other key contacts
Cultivating a culture of data use and philanthropy within the organization
Supporting program and administrative staff with managing contracts and invoices
Events- 15%
Through our annual fundraiser, CCC builds community with our supporters, celebrates our successes, and raises flexible funds for our work.
Developing a vision, program, and theme for annual fundraising event
Producing fundraising events in collaboration with event planning staff
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES & SUpport - 5%
Qualifications
Required qualifications
Two years of experience in development or related nonprofit programs or combination of professional and educational experience
Commitment to racial justice
Experience writing and managing grants or similar funding proposals
Ability to develop and track budgets and other financials
Ability to work collaboratively
Self-motivated and willing to proactively pursue new opportunities
Ability to learn/navigate and utilize database systems
High attention to detail, managing deliverables, and adhering to deadlines
Preferred qualifications
Knowledge of nonprofit funding landscape in Oregon
Strong racial and social justice analysis with knowledge of BIPOC communities and issues in Oregon
Compensation
This is an exempt position with a salary range of $67,000–$76,000.
Benefits include:
Paid time off — 15 days paid vacation in the first year of employment, increasing with tenure at the organization; 10 days of sick leave; 12 paid holidays and one week office closure in December.
Insurance — Medical, dental, vision, and short and long-term disability insurance for the employee, with 100% of premiums paid by CCC.
Additional benefits — Monthly phone and transportation stipends, 100% employer-paid contributions for the Paid Leave Oregon program, health savings and daycare Flexible Spending Accounts, Transportation Savings Account, life insurance, and disability insurance. Employees may enroll in a matching 401k retirement plan after one year of employment.
CCC also provides resources to support the training, skill-building, and professional development of our staff.
Work environment: Standard CCC work hours occur between 9:00–5:00 PM. Our office is located in Portland, Oregon close to transit and with a hybrid work schedule. The Development Manager must live in or be willing to move within commuting distance of the Portland metro area.
